Author's Note: When one of your best friends goes missing when your just in seventh grade and you have no clue what to do. Should you tell your parents what really happened or should you just avoid the situation? In he book Pretty Little Liars that's exactly what happened.
Sometimes things happen unexpectedly and sometimes things happen for no reason. The main theme of the bookPretty Little Liars is the effects of loss. When Spencer, Aria, Allison, Hanna and Emily have a sleepover and Allison gets mad and runs out of the guest house and into Spencer's backyard she mysteriously disappears with no one knowing where she went. When Allison goes missing it takes a toll on all the girls. The 5 girls that used to spend every second together are split up. Some of them move to completely different countries and some of them just find other friends and don't talk to each other anymore.
All the girls still have the haunting feeling of Allison always being around. When they all start getting notes the girls start to think that maybe Allison is really just watching them. The girls start to deny everything that they thought of Allison when they left. Now that Allison is giving them notes and clues that tell them that she's watching them. The girls start to wonder if they all got the notes, they then start to question each other wondering if they all got the notes or if it was just a few of them. When they find out that they all have the notes they reunite and try to find Allison. The girls won't give up until they find her they are positive that Allison is lurking in the shadows everywhere they go.
The girls also faced lots of struggles along the way. Sometimes they'll see a little peek of blonde hair or a eye peering around the corner. When they see clues they always tell each other what they say but for some of them it was harder to believe what they say. They would still deny it and try to think that Allison was still missing for good. Whenever they fought over the clues they always ended up making up at the end but it was hard to keep searching for Allison when they were fighting, so every once in a while they would take breaks until they were done fighting and then they would keep searching. They constantly had to face struggles along the way on finding Ali. They not only kept seeing flashes of blonde hair and quiet laughing that sounded like Ali they also had to keep facing there own struggles. The girls got lots of notes from A that kept reminding them that she was watching them. The notes that A was giving them were about some of the struggles that the girls face on a daily basis. They kept reminding them that they should be careful of what they do because what they do now could cause something to happen in the end. This helped them remind them of Ali because Ali was always the one that was manipulative and always gossiped so that just makes it seem even more like Ali is there right by there side.
This book reminds me of Chip in Found. Chip was adopted when he was just a baby and he didn't find out about being adopted until he was in high school. Ever since he was a baby he feels like his life has been a lie. Just like Allison's friends in Pretty Little Liars he's parents didn't want anything to do with him. He was just a baby and he was put on plane with no pilot and no one to take care of him. They were flying solo and there were also lots of other babies on the plane with them, they were babies so they had no clue what was going on but when they got to the airport no one even knew that there was supposed to be a plane there. So when the people went out to go check on them they could hear lots of whining and crying. So one of the flight attendants went to go check the plane. When he got to the plane all he saw were a bunch of babies with no pilot after he went to go get the other flight attendants they all just decided that they would each take a baby and adopt them. Chip was one the many that was chosen. Just like Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily they had no clue what happened to them all they knew was that what happened to them shouldn't ever happen without a good reason.
