Author's Note: I decided to write about symbols. There are lots of symbols in my book, but I just chose a couple to write about.
Some symbols in this book are Carlisle, the Volturi, Bella’s parents, the cover of the book (chess pieces a queen and pawn) and Edward and Bella’s new house. Carlisle symbolizes help, patience and affection, the Volturi represents fear, death and danger, Bella’s parents represent love, care and support, the pawn on the cover represents Bella as a human; helpless, weak and vulnerable, the queen on the cover represents Bella as a vampire; strong, powerful and graceful, and Edward and Bella’s new house represents new opportunities, freedom, a new life, support and caring friends. In this book these symbols are all connected in some way. For example; the pawn and the queen are connected because the pawn is Bella as a human; helpless weak and vulnerable, and the queen represents Bella as a vampire; strong, powerful and graceful. Also Carlisle and the Volturi are connected. Carlisle and the Volturi are connected because they both are vampires that live in two different families but in the book they both are connected because their two families make an alliance which connects them and makes them a bigger family.
The first symbol is Carlisle. Carlisle is a vampire that is in the same family as Bella and Edward. Carlisle symbolizes help, patience and love. He symbolizes help because he helps his family. Since Carlisle is the dad he helps new vampires; such as Bella, to learn how to fight and trains them how to hunt. He symbolizes patience because when you train vampires you need to have a lot of patience. He is loving because he is the dad and he loves his family.
Even though Carlisle is a very important symbol The Volturi is also another important symbol in this book. The Volturi is the leader of all the clans. They tell all the people what to do and if they don’t follow the rules they have to kill them. The Volturi symbolizes fear, death and danger. The Volturi symbolizes fear because all the other clans of vampires are scared of them. The Volturi represents death because they kill all the vampires that don’t follow the rules of being vampires. The Volturi represents danger because they are very dangerous and they can’t be trusted.
The Volturi is a great example of what is happening in this book but another important part is Bella’s parents. The third symbol is Bella’s parents. Bella’s parents represent love, care and support. Bella’s parents don’t know that she’s a vampire because the vampires have to keep it a secret. But Bella’s parents know that Bella has changed they don’t know what happened but they still love her. Bella’s parents represent love because Bella has changed but her parents still love her. Bella’s parents represent care because she got sick and when she was sick they took care of her. Bella’s parents stand for support because they supported her when she was anger and when she was in an argument about if she should be able to keep her baby or not.
Bella’s parents played an important part in this book. They kept encouraging her when things didn’t go as planned. Even though Bella’s parents helped a lot the skills that she has now that she’s a vampire are equally important. Another symbol is the cover of the book. On the cover they have a picture of a chess board with a pawn and a queen. The pawn represents Bella as a human; helpless, feeble and vulnerable. The queen represents her as a vampire; strong, powerful and graceful. The pawn represents helplessness because when Bella was a human she was helpless. She was very sick and therefore she was helpless. The pawn represents weakness because when Bella was sick she was very weak she couldn’t even get up to walk because she was so weak. The pawn represents Bella being vulnerable because when she was a human she was very vulnerable she couldn’t protect herself as well but now she’s a vampire and she can protect herself from anything. The queen represents strength because when Bella was a vampire she was very strong. Bella when she was human was weak but now that she’s a vampire she’s so strong she can break rocks. Bella as a vampire is very powerful. The queen also resembles powerfulness because; now that Bella’s a vampire she can run really fast and hurt anything that gets in her path. The queen symbolizes gracefulness because when Bella was a human she wasn’t really graceful but now that she changed into a vampire she is graceful.
Now that Bella’s a vampire she has become stronger, powerful and graceful. Those skills are very important to have throughout live but having shelter is also very important. Such as the new house that Edward and Bella got. Bella and Edward’s new house represents new opportunities, freedom, a new life, support and caring friends. The new house resembles new opportunities because now that Bella’s a vampire she can do a lot more things that she couldn’t do before. The new house also symbolizes freedom. Now that Bella’s a vampire she can be free; she can go where she wants and she can do what she wants when she wants to. The new house represents a new life because Bella was a human before but now that she changed into a vampire she can have a whole different life. The new house resembles support because when Bella was sick Alice and the rest of Carlisle’s family all supported her and stayed with her until she felt better. The house also represents caring friends, because Alice is the one who gave Bella and Edward the house. She wanted them to have a nice home where they could take care of Reseneme.
These symbols all have a great significance to this book. They all were connected to Bella in some way some were symbols when she was a human and some were when she was a vampire. I decide to write about the symbols, because the symbols are very important they tell what the story is about and what the story means to me.
